The triumph of the heart – We started the championship with a victory

In the first round of the K&H Men's Handball League, the ETO University Handball Team hosted CYEB-Budakalász at the Magvassy Mihály Sports Hall. The ETO started well in the first half, but by the end of the half, the visiting team held a one-goal advantage (12-13). In the second half, there was a six-goal difference between the two teams, but after a fierce struggle, the match ended with a narrow 31-30 victory for Győr.

An NB I men's handball match was held again at the Magvassy Mihály Sports Hall, drawing the attention of hundreds of enthusiastic fans.

Bálint Kilvinger, the head coach, started the ETO University Handball Team's first NBI league match with a defensive lineup of Bombac, Lang, Bozovic, Vilovski, Dely, and Dörnyei, with Pásztor in goal. The match began with a guest goal, but Bozovic and Bombac quickly responded with goals of their own (2-1). Thanks to Pásztor's brilliant saves, our team led 6-3 by the 10th minute. After fifteen minutes, our team still maintained the advantage (7-5), and as the match entered the last ten minutes of the first half, the Győr team was still in the lead. However, the half ended with Budakalász leading 12-13.

In the second half, the guests scored the first goal again, but Bozovic quickly answered. By the 40th minute, the visitors had increased their lead to four goals (17-21), which they extended to six goals with Kovács's goal in the 53rd minute. At that point, our team found new energy thanks to the encouragement of the crowd, and the substitute Bősz also made some impressive saves in goal. In the 58th minute, Hári Levente scored, bringing our team level (30-30), after which both Budakalász's head coach and Kilvinger Bálint called timeouts. With thirty-two seconds left in the match, Bozovic's goal set the final score.

The ETO University Handball Team started the 2024/2025 league season with a 31-30 victory.

Bálint Kilvinger: „We could say that our hearts drove us forward. It was a typical first match for us. We started the game well, but then we made a lot of mistakes, which Budakalász took advantage of. These two points are very important for starting the league like this. I'm very proud of the boys; we fought from start to finish, but we still see that there is room for improvement. We will keep working hard. I wish the Budakalász team good luck in the future."

Dean Bombac: „First, I want to thank the Budakalász team; we played a very good match. They really challenged us. Secondly, I joined the team after the Olympics, which was only a few weeks ago. I'm very happy that today we were able to show what strong characters our team is made of. There are many strong personalities in the team, and this victory is very important for us. I'm glad so many people came out to support us at the match. I hope more and more will cheer for us in the future."
